The Diet Solution, Is It The Solution?

The Diet Solution is authored by Ms. Isabel De Los Rios, a certified Nutritionist and Personal Trainer.  One of many reasons this is such a best seller is that Ms. De Los Rios knows from her own battle with the Fat Gremlins what it takes to lose excess body fat and most critical, keep it off.  Another reason that I can personally attest to, is that if followed, this program will work!   Based on my own battle with the Fat Gremlins, and all the extensive research and yes, experimentation I have tried, here is what I have learned.  To be a successful fat loss plan ( by this I mean fat goes away and stays away) I have found a few points that simply must be present:

  • The plan needs to make scientific sense.  How the body works, specifically how food effects it.  There are three hormones the body creates which control when and where our body stores fat.  Learning which foods effect these hormones is very important to permanent fat loss.
  • The plan should account for the different body types/metabolic types.  Teach one how to correctly identify them and which foods are right for each type.  Some foods work well for one group and are detrimental to another.
  • The plan should make sense, promote overall good health and burn away excess body fat. It should be well laid out and easy to follow.  Afterall, we do want to lose fat easy, don’t we?
  • The plan should be all natural, no drugs, expensive exercise equipment, magic pills ( there aren’t any that really work long term) or pie in the sky promises of losing 30lbs or more in 30 days.  The math and science just don’t support such claims.  Given that  one pound of body fat represents approx. 3500 calories and a moderately active 6′ male in excellant shape burns approx 2400 to 2500 calories a day, what are the odds? For females it is even more unrealistic as they burn less calories than a male body.  Remember, our body kicks into survival mode with too low an intake of fuel, it will begin to scavenge the nutrients it needs from our muscle and organ tissue.  This is the most common failing of so many of the “Pop” diets.

The Diet Solution covers all of these critical points very well.  It also has the benefit of giving just enough science for it too make sense without getting bogged down in the science.  This plan is a very good choice for someone who wants to get right to the business of losing fat, right now.  Should you become interested in learning more on how the body works with respect to fat storage and burning, you can always pick up further information down the road.  The Diet Solution is a very, very good way to get started on winning the battle with the Fat Gremlins.
Of the diet plans and programs that I believe in and endorse, the Diet Solution goes more into meal planning ( with suggested daily meal plans) and recipies more than any other.  It is the perfect choice for someone who enjoys cooking, needs or enjoys having varied meal plans ready to go.
One area the plan does not go into detail is exercise.  Now I can attest to the fact that you can indeed lose fat without exercising.  However, it certainly speeds up the process.  When done correctly, exercise is a very good way to control some of that hormone production I referred to earlier in the text.  This is a minor point, as many folks won’t feel the desire to start an exercise program.  Very easy matter to add an effective fat burning exercise program at any time.  A reminder, long cardio work outs are one of the least effective ways to burn fat.
To summarize, The Diet Solution will work.  It is based on sound science and nutrition.  Does not get too technical in it’s delivery.  Is well laid out and easy to follow.  Has extensive meal plans and recipies for those who like cooking and making meals.  Most importantly, based on my own experience ( have beat the Fat Gremlins out of 70+ pounds of fat & kept it off) The Diet Soution will work as a permanent solution to your fat loss goals.

Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle is an exclusive E-Book authored by Tom Venuto. It is a complete and thorough manual on how to lose fat fast. Tom is a winner of International  Natural ( i.e. no steroids or chemicals of any kind) Bodybuilding Contests and an accomplished trainer,coach and consultant in the Fitness field.   Tom took his years of experience and results and compiled the most complete single source reference guide on how to naturally and permanently lose body fat I have found commercially available.  If you have ever asked or thought “help me lose weight” you need to read this book!

I am reviewing and giving Tom Venuto’s work a “Best” rating with four key reasons in mind:

  1. It worked for me! If you read the “about” page on my blog you know I struggled with being fat for the majority of my life ( 30+ yrs. of fighting the Fat gremlins).  As an information & knowledge junkie, when I hit 250lbs. or so on my 5’11″ body, I put the knowledge I had collected into a game plan that began to work for me .  I ultimately stalled at around 205 to 210 lbs.  It was adding what I learned from Tom’s book that jump started my own fat loss.   For several years now I have hovered at 182 lbs. plus or minus 2lbs.(update,now at 174 lbs. & holding).   Bear in mind that along the way in those 30+ yrs. of dieting, I tried it all!  My conclusion, there is no magic bullet or pill, no “Miracle Diet“, just sound science of how the body works.  Burn the Fat Feed The Muscle mirrors my own findings, no drugs,real science, a little bit of work and focus, equals real results!
  2. Where as there are five or six other programs that I would give a “Good” rating to, none are as comprehensive and fine tunable to the unique individual physiology as Tom’s book.  My own experience is that until you understand how our blood sugar level effects fat loss and fat storage , you will never permanently succeed.   How and Which foods effect the body is critical to success.  Not all bodies and metabolism’s are the same, knowing what is right for you will dramatically speed up the results.  Burn The Fat goes into great and thorough detail here, so you don’t have to read seven or eight medical/biology textbooks ( as I did ).
  3. Exercise. Why do I bring this up?  I know from experience that one does not have to exercise to lose body fat, however, it will greatly enhance your results and provides multiple improvements to your overall health and well being.  Tom’s book explains this well and outlines multiple different strategies depending on the individuals interest and time constraints.  The key here is that you don’t have to aspire to being a bodybuilder, you tailor your own program.  Should bodybuilding be of interest, this book will show you how to achieve maximum gains and how to reach a competitive “ripped” (i.e. low body fat level) appearance.
  4. Coaching and support.  I also know from experiance that focus and will power can be difficult masters to serve.  Included with Burn The Fat & Feed The Muscle is a trial membership in Tom Vanutos “Inner Circle“.  This is a hands on coaching resource.  Direct access to the training staff, online Q&A,personal coaching and a members forum.  This feature alone merits a “Best” rating.  Other programs have nothing as comprehensive as this.   How much easier do you feel it would be to stay the course on your weight loss program with a support team there to help you with your will power and focus?

This book is extremely comprehensive, for some it might even be considered “over the top”.  The primary book included with the product is 341 pages, the first 270 of those pages deal with nutrition and how & why the body works as it does in relation to fat loss (or fat storage).  It also includes a very well laid out tutorial on goal setting.  Having spent 35 years in business management myself,  not only will this aid in your fat loss success, it can be helpful in changing all aspects of your life!   It is also noted that the author spends time educating on why all bodies and metabolism’s were not created the same.  What is correct nutrition for one, is not for another.  It is precisely the detailed information contained in the first 270 pages that make this program the “Gold” standard of fat loss programs.

So what is the bad or downside of Burn The Fat? The fact that is so comprehensive might be intimidating or daunting to some folks.  Also the fact that the author never sugar coats anything.  Tom Venuto is clear in his opinion that there is no magic pills or lose weight while doing nothing.  This program is all about focus,work and study.   For that reason this product is not well suited to the casual dieter who only desires to lose a few pounds here and there, with minimal effort.  There are 3 or 4 more simple programs I have examined that are easy reads and give enough accurate nutrition guidelines to be be helpful for them.   The author is a renowned bodybuilder, as such he makes references to bodybuilders and what they do to prepare their bodies for competition, the low percentage body fat “get ripped” appearance.  Where as this work can be viewed as a “bible” for bodybuilders, the good news is that the principles are the same for those of us who simply desire healthful, energetic and lean bodies.

A suggestion to help you succeed with this program:  Read my post “Help Me Lose Weight“, incorporate that game plan into your lifestyle while digesting the info in Burn The Fat.  By the time you are ready to initiate the program you design, you will already have created some of the habits required.  You also should expect to have already seen some results in lowering your fat content.  Not much better  motivator than results you can see and measure!  It will feel far less overwhelming than feeling you have to cram all the info in your brain at once.  My own observation, permanent body change is a journey, not a weekend jaunt.  Enjoy the process and the journey.
